Onboarding cost calculator

Every new hire is paid in full before reaching full productivity. This shows what that ramp-up costs each year, from the company's own numbers, and what a faster ramp would be worth.

Example values are filled in. Replace them with real figures.

Until a new hire performs like an experienced one.

50%

50% means half as productive, on average, across the ramp.

How it's calculated

Lost output per hire = salary ÷ 52 × weeks × (1 − productivity)
Training time per hire = trainer hours × weeks × hourly cost
Yearly cost = (lost output + training time) × hires per year
Savings = the same calculation over the weeks saved.

An estimate from the figures entered. It leaves out recruiting costs and early turnover, which usually make the real cost higher.
